A generous donation from the Executors of the estate of Ann Richardson specifically for the Social Services Complex St. Mina in Pordim near Pleven was transferred by Friends of Bulgaria to the Complex Director.
The Social Services Complex St Mina administered by the Pordim Municipality (Pleven) provides 24 hour care for 14 children and adolescents in a family-style environments in three purpose-built centres, two of which are in Pordim with the third in Zgalevo. Each centre also provides access to Special Educational Support in Pleven.
The Ann Richardson donation is funding the upgrades to the fabric and furnishings of the centres needed to improve the wellbeing and comfort of the residents and of the working environment for the carers and social workers, including a seasonal festive dinner at the end of the year.
Friends of Bulgaria are exploring the opportunities for developing contact with the Complex St Mina in Prodim and are currently investigating helping organise an expedition for residents of the complex to the Balkan.
