Don Robinson, a prominent British businessman and a true friend of Bulgaria has recently donated £10,000 for the work of Friends of Bulgaria.
Don was co-founder and Deputy Chairman of Kunick Leisure Group Plc 1982 – 1992, operated the leading Theme Parks and Zoos – Windsor Safari Park, Flamingo Land, Dudley Zoo, Castle & Amusement Park, and was Chairman of the National Zoological Association of Great Britain in 1971 – 82. Among the many enterprises he has started is Winston Churchill Britain at War, chaired by Lord Churchill – Britain’s first Theme Museum, at Tooley Street, London Bridge, London – which has already received world-wide press acclaim and has now been converted into a Charitable Trust.
Don Robinson is a former President of the world-famous Scarborough Cricket Festival and was only the third person to be asked in its 108th year of history to be President two years running. Former Presidents were HRH The Duke of Edinburgh; His Grace the Duke of Norfolk and the Duchess of Kent. He is a former Director/Trustee of the Yorkshire Television Telethon Trust; a Barker of the Variety Club of Great Britain for over 30 years, of which he received The Variety Gold Heart Award in 1990. In 1985 Don was made a Freeman of the City of London. He is also Vice President of the London Stock Exchange Cricket Club.
Don has been actively involved in business projects in Bulgaria for several years. He was Chairman and Controlling Shareholder in Las Vegas Casinos Hotel Group in Bulgaria. He is Chairman of Sofiapark Group. During his career Don Robinson has also sponsored many charitable projects in Bulgaria. These include the provision of wheelchairs, hospital beds and medical equipment. Over the years he has been a strong supporter of Friends of Bulgaria. Thank you, Don!
